5 Little Delights This Week

1. Getting SO many great responses for "The Little Delights In Life: Wedding Edition" during the month of June :) It's going to be awesome!!

2. Hit 100 YouTube subscribers this week! Wow! I always have a little celebration for every follower and subscriber... thanks for the support!!

3. Studying my scriptures and always finding something new that I can apply to my life.

4. Having Monday off from school was a highlight :)

5. Making cookie dough balls! I have always grown up never eating cookie dough because it has raw egg in it... and this recipe doesn't call for any eggs! It was the perfect match :) No cooking, no raw eggs, and super fast!

Here is the recipe:
1 cup of softened salted butter
1 1/2 cups of light brown sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 cups of flour
6 oz of mini chocolate chips

Cream the butter and sugar. Add in the remaining ingredients (you need to start using your hands or a large spoon once you get to the 2nd cup of flour). Roll them into balls and refrigerate for half an hour (I literally couldn't wait that long so I just started eating some and saved the rest in the fridge!). You can add some drizzles of chocolate or leave it like it is! Store in the refrigerator.

Tutorial Tuesday: My Signature Daisy Cupcakes

I love daisies (as you might be able to tell by looking at this blog) and I love love making daisy cupcakes! Here is a tutorial on how to make my signature daisy cupcake!

You could make these for any occasion including bridal showers, a get well surprise, birthdays and even weddings!

Not mentioned in the video:
-The center yellow dot is yellow fondant that was rolled out into a ball then placed in the center.
-You can stick the two layers of petals together with either frosting, piping gel, or almond extract. You can also stick the yellow center on the same way.
-The curvy tray that the daisies are sitting on help them to dry in that shape so that they aren't laying flat. Let the daisies dry on it overnight or if the fondant is thin enough they could be ready within an hour!

p.s. I'm so excited for June!! It's going to be wedding month here at the Little Delights In Life :) I have so much planned including wedding cake tutorials each Tuesday, guest posts (featuring their own wedding cakes plus some wedding stories), and so much more (maybe even a giveaway!)! Come back on Friday, June 1st when we kick off this extravaganza!

Cake Cookies

Have you heard of cake cookies before?
I've had some requests asking for the cake cookie recipe that I use so here it is!

1 box of cake mix (any flavor!)
2 eggs
1/3 cup of vegetable oil

Mix together all of the ingredients. The dough will form into a ball as you are stirring. Bake at 350 for about 8-10 minutes depending on your oven.

It is so easy and fast to whip up for any occasion! You should try them this weekend for your celebrations! They are always my back up plan for when I need a dessert in an hour. They taste the best when they are right out of the oven. They have a great flavor!

Need help with some Memorial Day dessert ideas? Check these cupcakes out :)

What's Coming:
The whole month of June is going to be The Little Delights In Life: Wedding Edition! Check back often for some great wedding idea cake tutorials, engagement stories, and all things wedding! I'm so excited it's going to be a blast!!

Gelcolor Nails

Have you heard about Gelcolor?! I have had acrylic nails many times and they always end up ruining my nails, so I was a little skeptical about using Gelcolor because I thought it would have the same results. But to my surprise... they are AWESOME! I just got them done yesterday and I'm so excited to see how long they will last. It's basically just a long lasting manicure. They are really thin (unlike acrylic) and they are supposed to last 2 weeks! I took these pictures while I was working this morning using some office supplies as props. Cheesy? Yes. Better than holding my hand out awkwardly? Yes. Haha I love this coral color which is really popular this spring!

Have any of you had Gelcolor done on your nails?! How did you like them? This could be really great when I am decorating cakes and don't have to worry about getting my nails dirty or chipped!

5 Little Delights this week

It's finally Thursday! I'm not sure about you guys but I sure can't wait for Friday :)

1. Friday was round two of Avengers for me and this time I saw it at a drive-in movie. Drive-in movies are so fun with a great group of friends!

2. I went up to Island Park (in Idaho) and it was so gorgeous! I would go back there in a second! Living in Texas makes you forget how beautiful the mountains are.

3. While I am up at school I miss celebrating mother's day with my mom, but I'm glad that I was still able to talk to her and send her a card!

4. I was walking out the doors of the building I work in and saw a girl in a wheelchair trying to get up the hill. Before I could get to her I saw a guy walking right past her and then turned around and pushed her up to the building. I love catching people do small acts of kindness :)

5. Sitting out on a blanket enjoying the amazing weather and the company of a great friend.

Sorry for the squinty eyes! It was so sunny!

Don't forget to link up YOUR 5 little delights! Happy Thursday!

Tutorial Tuesday: Graduation Cupcakes

May and June are always exciting months for students who are graduating! I decided that these cupcakes would be the perfect addition to a graduation celebration.

Aren't these little diplomas so cute?! The stars and diplomas are made out of fondant... but don't get scared! All you have to do is cut them out and place them on! I show you the exact way to do it in this video. You can even use your school colors to customize the look!

Happy Tuesday! And congratulations to all of you who are graduating :) I sure can't wait for that day to arrive!

Next Tuesday: Memorial Day Celebration cupcakes!

My Mom is the Best!

Happy Mother's Day!

Dropping me off for my first semester at college!

You are the greatest mom a daughter could have! I don't think that I could have made it to where I am if you weren't there supporting me through it all. I am so lucky to have such a loving, fun, and smart mother!

Thank you for teaching me
how to tie my shoes, spell my name, and to read
how to share, make friends, and be polite
how to be a hard worker
how to cook so I wouldn't starve in college
how to write a thank you note
how to love and serve others
how to keep a positive attitude
how to always keep smiling
how to be the best mom a family could have!

I can only hope that someday when I have a family I will be able to raise my children with as much love, support, and dedication that you have raised us with.

Thank you for showing me how to be the best person I can be!

I love you!

Found this on a cute blog and loved it!

Tutorial Tuesday: Cake Pop Basics

I thought it would be a fun idea to go through step by step on how to make cake pops. I used chocolate cake, chocolate frosting and Wilton vanilla chocolate.

I left them plain and white so you can picture what you would like to do with them. You can dye the chocolate a different color, add sprinkles, thin piping, different shapes, ribbon, or fondant accents. The options are all up to you!

Send me a picture of your cake pops! I would love to see what you did with them!!

If you have any questions feel free to ask me!

Have a fantastic Tuesday :)

21 Years and 21 Facts

It was my birthday on Sunday! My friends and family made it so special and I can definitely say they are the best a girl could have :) I was so spoiled! Well this was the year I turned 21... where did the time go?! Instead of doing a Little Delights post today, I thought I would share 21 random facts about me/things I have experienced in my 21 years of life.

1. My favorite dessert is definitely brownies! Even though I love decorating cakes I'm not a fan of eating them. I could probably eat a whole pan of brownies by myself!

2. My sister and I shared a room for 15 years. I wouldn't have it any other way! We were always so close to each other and usually never fought!

3. My favorite color is blue.

4. I am always fascinated with different languages and I wish I could speak one fluently.

5. I have very talented eyebrows. I can move them up, down, and around!

6. I used to jazz dance in high school and loved it!

7. I have played the piano for about 13 years. My goal is to play the cello one day!

8. I went camping and got lyme disease from a tick! What are the odds?! Luckily we caught the symptoms in time and were able to treat it.

9. My favorite vacations are ones where a beach is involved :)

10.  I had to get glasses when I was in 6th grade, but I only wore them when I desperately needed them.

11. I have lived in Texas for about 9 years. Before that we have lived in Utah and Washington.

12. I have always had long hair until a year ago when I cut it an A-line style for my 20th birthday. I have decided I'm going to grow it out again!

13. I love acryillic nails. Even when I was younger I would put paper clips on my fingertips so that I could pretend I had long nails.

14. My sister and I played with Barbies, Polly Pockets, and Beanie Baby's most of our youth.

15. Playing school was my favorite and I would always pretend I had a class and would teach them the things I was currently learning in school. My mom set up desks, chalkboards, organizing drawers, and charts in our basement and literally turned it into a school for my sister and I. Those are some of my best memories :)

16. I was never into NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, or Brittany Spears. I loved Celine Dion! Haha it still cracks me up that I knew all of her songs and even did a report about her in elementary school!

17. Sometimes I have dreams where I am laughing so hard it wakes me up! Now if I could just remember what I was laughing about...

18. I am a work-a-holic. I push myself to the limits in any job that I have because I love being busy!

19. I only had two wisdom teeth! I've only had 1 cavity ever!

20. Sometimes I get migraines. I get sensitive to light, I start losing my focal and peripheral vision, and then the pain hits which makes me very nauseous. I'm sure glad those don't happen often!

21. My favorite birthday party was my Harry Potter party. We went all out!! We had the sorting hat which put us into the houses, we played quiditch in the backyard with brooms, made goop for potions class, and even practiced our spells. Do I have the best and most creative mom ever? Why yes I do!

I still have so much to look forward to and can't wait for the new experiences I will have in the future. I hope to live with no regrets, love with all my heart, and laugh often. I love my life!
